Bad time to try to play?

I got the first urge after Molqui to play recently and seeing as I've become a serial battle player it was disheartening to see leadership spots filled (good) but over the past three days never seeing either of them (bad). Then the commander was removed from the list. I cannot help but notice there has been one applicant seen for my characters brief life. This does not bode well.
