Regardless of whether that is true or not, is sort of moot, since there's always a bunch of villagers running around with roles that dictate i hate magic. Magic killed my family? I hate magic. I am cursed by some demon? I hate magic. Someone quaffed a potion of return and I couldn't seal a kill? I hate magic.

EDIT: I'll also point out that i personally feel that's an okay RP to have, vanilla as it is. It's entirely possible to see soemone' family killed by some mage and then hating magic for it. Pretty sure that's seen in a lot of fantasy books and shit. And clearly the villager IMMs are also completely fine with that line of thinking as a reason for joining the villagers. Not everyone is some high-minded individual with philosophical views of why magic shouldn't be used by mortals.
