He put the contest out there, the rules were simple. Everyone who wanted to could post an entry, whether story or poem but it had to be between 8 and 30 lines.
Everyone had to be able to get theirs done within five minutes. Everyone in attendance, spectators and participants then were allowed to note their top three
(discounting themselves) to Ishuli (I believe) (The only caveat being that you could not vote for your own work.) who would then likely give out a charm of knowledge to the winners or maybe a title. (Again I'm not 100% here)
So yes, theoretically you could ask enough of your friends to attend to possibly sway the results, but that's the only way you could try to taint things.
On the Herald front, one Herald technically tied for an event win but accepted no reward and the one who complained about it had gotten a charm of knowledge for
tying. In that particular game, the participants had no way to affect the results. It was dice rolls.
