This is close to my set for mages. For anything with parry and dodge I don't bother with AC. You can replace the circlet with sailors hat from the docks if you want. I tend to get the leather tunic and leggings from the poacher. Replace the neck with the newbie +hit/dam. The vest from aturi can be gotten off the guard before lvl 10. It is better IMO. I tend to use the aturi belt and sometimes the wristguards if I don't need str. For the back you can use the newbie one with +hit/dam/dex or the aturi one.

Depending on your dex, this will let you tank up to stalkers/gnolls in the forest of nowhere. Tested on a 21 dex character with no melee defenses. All attainable by a level 10 char. Probably better with whatever vest is sold in aturi, but I was trying to cover a dex point I think.
