Calming does not give save vs spell

It lowers the Castelo my level of spells directed at you (good and bad) and gives you a second int based saving throw.

So with 23 int and divine saves you basically always save. A storm with divine saves makes the throw about 80% of the time.

It's very effective but best when you still hear for saves. It doesn't lower the level of communes but still gives the extra save check if it's a save vs spells.
