Several times people actually coded cheats then had loggers for when the cheats were activated. Lets just say it rocked anyone who played the game in ladders/matches and caught about 20 of the best 100 players in the game.
So here is my thought process. For games like BF2, TFC2 etc etc. A smart coder could potentially nab 1,000s of people by installing a logging mechanism. Each time the cheat is loaded into the game it will log it, then send a message to the author with date/time/ip of server etc. Then these ips (of the player) are sent to a program like punk buster or other anti-cheating software that adds them to a banned list. Just a thought
