Not sure I like this idea...

I'm not sure i like the idea of starting every battle trying to get two or three dispels in regardless of what type of mage character you play. This seems to take away from the diversity of the various mage classes.

Also, been a while since i've played a voker, but I remember having a hard enough time against villagers given that they seemed to spellbane at least 2 out of every 3 spells i threw their way and most of them had a way to silence me. Not sure i like the idea of some of them being able to wipe out my A/B/S and voker shields in one blow.

I might be ok if they created some specific edges that manipulate the way dispel works, but i think you should have to take one path or the other, not being able to get dispel to do everything you originally mentioned.

For that matter, might be interesting to see some edges around cancellation to manipulate what it can/can't get rid of.

I'd like to see dispel skills take center stage.

I agree with some of that...

If deathblow dispelled preps and A/B/S you would no longer need A/B/S for every single fight versus a villager.

Scrimbul November 30, 2008 06:53PM

The problem is

Coumidin November 30, 2008 07:14PM

Exactly how does the game change for people that don't have dispel?

Scrimbul December 01, 2008 05:11AM

Having their preps dispelled widens the gap even moreso

Coumidin December 01, 2008 06:39AM

You're not seeing things clearly enough.

Scrimbul December 01, 2008 08:50AM

At least half of my argument included cabal powers, though

Coumidin December 01, 2008 01:25PM

except...

dragomir December 01, 2008 09:54AM

Considering you have word of recall, he doesn't and he just lost deathblow?

Scrimbul December 01, 2008 11:33AM

Counterspell FTW. nt

Someone Not Special, Esquire November 30, 2008 11:15AM

Dispel magic can already get rid of mantle, windwalk, vanguard, etc.

Yhorian(VIP) November 30, 2008 06:00AM

Shifters already have to shift out of form a lot!~

abernyte November 30, 2008 02:18AM

You know that healer has to pretty much word out after successful dispel?

DurNominator(VIP) November 30, 2008 01:58AM

This doesn't bother me. He's either invulnerable or useless. I'd rather have useless if there's no middle ground. nt

Scrimbul November 30, 2008 09:26AM

Yeah, that really encourages me to bother playing a healer. n/t

Graham November 30, 2008 10:14AM

Because right now they can pretty much hoard items, gate + prog item spam and be unkillable.

Scrimbul November 30, 2008 06:13PM

Have you ever played a fucking healer? No so shut the fuck up.

Graham December 01, 2008 07:34AM

Yes, I have. You shut the fuck up, Graham.

Scrimbul December 01, 2008 08:51AM

Who was your healer then?

Graham December 01, 2008 09:53AM

Owned. nt

Healers die to massive gangs as easily as anyone not named Cabdru or Ravon.

Sam December 02, 2008 05:52PM

Just because you can't kill a healer doesn't make healers "unkillable."

Balrahd(VIP) December 01, 2008 03:17PM

Goodie Outlander healer was sweet in defending. nt

DurNominator(VIP) December 01, 2008 12:15PM

For some reason I've always disliked offensive dispel in CF

Coumidin November 29, 2008 09:45PM

Re: It will also allow people to dispel their damage reduction to heal.

falchiron November 29, 2008 04:21PM

Don't bring up reduced healing rates for the protected, that ruins Scrimbul's arguement!~

abernyte December 01, 2008 02:42AM

You haven't been paying attention then.

Scrimbul December 01, 2008 05:09AM

I have paid attention and conclude: You whine too much!~

abernyte December 03, 2008 01:27AM

There is no reason to let cancellation allow this other than I can't come up with an in-character reason why it can't. (Probably because the cancellation spell simply isn't developed enough to unravel A/B/S) nt
