This is a response for both of you combined.
There is a reason why elves cannot be assassins. This reason is their goodly nature. Elves do not wish to end life for material gain. Killing someone just for gear is acting like an assassin in that aspect. Your elf killing Tarus for no other reason than charred bracer is not a goodly act and it is not elfly behaviour. You did it, because OOC, you wanted to gear up your elf and increase his power. Thus, it is clearly powerplaying. This is not frowned upon, since like you explained, no other player is hurt by it. That doesn't change the fact that it's powerplaying. It's a gray area, frowned upon when there are characters that are set to higher standard than what is the norm. Thus, it's a bit tougher to be a Fortress goodie than a regular goodie. Makes sense, since other cabals also have freedoms they have to sacrifice due to cabal ideals.
So, it is powerplaying. It isn't just frowned upon or condemned too strongly due to fun stick related reasons.
