I think your numbers are off, but the idea is there.

I've read a post from the staff that resist metals doesn't completely cancel the elf iron/mithril vulnerability. They still take slightly higher damage than than what a human would without resist metal.

curious, what sort of RP are you talking about (n/t)

zoskia September 19, 2011 03:39PM

Roll a d6. Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha. n/t

jalim September 19, 2011 12:08PM

Swiftstrike and gear?

The Forsaken(VIP) September 19, 2011 09:53AM

There are ways to cover iron vuln. Quite easily, too. Ask around IC or something. nt

qurdind September 19, 2011 06:23AM

My brain broke reading this entire sub-thread. You're all retarded. I am now stupider for having read this shit. (n/t)

Scrimbul September 19, 2011 04:55PM

Unless you found "resist iron", then no. "Resist metals" doesn't count. nt

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 08:34AM

why not? nt

Splntrd September 19, 2011 08:46AM

Re: why not? nt

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 08:51AM

Not trying to be difficult, I promise...

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 10:46AM

I think your numbers are off, but the idea is there.

_Magus_ September 19, 2011 04:57PM

Well, this is different. If that's true, then the answer changes. But that's the point, either you cancel the vuln or no. Nothing else matters (for purposes of this thread). (n/t)

alansmithee September 19, 2011 07:27PM

Okay.

Splntrd September 19, 2011 11:42AM

Re: Okay.

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 11:53AM

See I think you're wrong here.

alansmithee September 19, 2011 12:49PM

I don't get what's so confusing.

Java September 21, 2011 12:23PM

That's silly.

alansmithee September 21, 2011 01:09PM

Umm.. huh? A fire giant with resist cold actually resists cold.

Java September 21, 2011 01:19PM

Why are you being so obtuse?

alansmithee September 21, 2011 02:38PM

Except..

Java September 21, 2011 10:35PM

Examine the definitions of vulnerable/vulnerability.

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:02PM

The most important point here is the original statement "there are there ways to cover iron VULN" (n/t)

NbM(VIP) September 21, 2011 02:53PM

Right. And with the preps mentioned, the elf is no longer vuln to iron. Period. Is he resistant to it? Does he have big ears? How big is red? None of that matters. Vuln is covered. Done. (n/t)

alansmithee September 21, 2011 03:51PM

I'd say that due to the vuln, by exploiting it they can cut through your resist metal.

DurNominator(VIP) September 21, 2011 06:36PM

Vulnerability means: Taking more damage from an attack relative to other types of attacks. (n/t)

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:02PM

In answer to your next statement/question, because you are predictable:

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:10PM

Semantic silliness aside

Flipside Oreo September 19, 2011 02:33PM

I see it this way too

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 12:57PM

You aren't making sense.

Re: You aren't making sense.

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 03:03PM

Nothing you've said here is relevant to this my friend. Really.

alansmithee September 19, 2011 04:02PM

Re: Nothing you've said here is relevant to this my friend. Really.

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 04:33PM

Except you're changing the whole point of the thread. Stop being so blinded! ;)

alansmithee September 19, 2011 07:17PM

Humans have nothing to do with it.

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:16PM

If your enemy has an elemental vuln, you have to check if they have a resist up before, or you'll be hitting a resist and be worse off. If they have a metal vuln, the best they can do is make it neutral, so there's no reason not to use it.~

ibuki September 19, 2011 01:27PM

lightning shield

daurwyn(VIP) September 19, 2011 02:49PM

Again, you're not making sense. This has nothing to do with what someone else thinks.

alansmithee September 19, 2011 02:05PM

"This is about being the elf", Yes, and nothing to with being a human.

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:17PM

Yes, and when you resist metals, if the resistance is the same you don't take more damage from iron.

NbM(VIP) September 21, 2011 04:35PM

How do you define "normal" damage, if not relative to other types of damage? Have you reviewed the term vulnerability? (n/t)

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:37PM

Also, reviewing the term "relative" may be helpful in letting you understand the situation.

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:43PM

Just to be devil's advocate

daurwyn(VIP) September 19, 2011 02:48PM

If the resistance to metals protects the same exact amount as a standard elf iron vuln, then yes. (n/t)

NbM(VIP) September 19, 2011 02:17PM

Please review the meaning of the term "vulnerability," both in and out of this context. (n/t)

Matrik September 21, 2011 04:20PM

Right.

alansmithee September 19, 2011 02:27PM

It's not resist metal.

bigben September 19, 2011 11:03AM

Re: It's not resist metal.

Isildur(VIP) September 19, 2011 11:15AM

It is sort of covered, but it's not a vuln turned into resist.

DurNominator(VIP) September 19, 2011 09:16AM

Not much of an expert but...

Welverin September 19, 2011 05:51AM

Eh, here are some counter points

Matrik September 19, 2011 07:16AM

Never thought about the group thing with a hunter

The Baron September 22, 2011 05:13AM

As far as I know, wood-elf has every problem elf does, but has a LOT more benefits when it comes to rangering.

vortexmagus September 19, 2011 05:47AM

Hunter rangers are like pallies. Lots of 'oomph' but no way to keep them in combat. n/t
