Everyone uses tell, if you don't want make any assumptions that interfer with RP never use Group, Tell, or Cabal channel, restrict yourself to say and yell.

Going around in groups and killing stuff to level up also doesn't make sense from a real life perspective.

Everyone has a right to play the game how they want to, but I would suspect the number two reason (number one being graphical mmos) for growth of the player base being slow to negative is difficulty for new and casual players to find a viable group. This type of attitude in a lot of the playerbase doesn't help. To me it just seems like an excuss to be an jackass. Still I suppose you just have to play however makes it fun to you.
