It's not like I won't be sad to see it go, too.
Chucking out Entropy and welcoming Lyristeon's vision after he wholeheartedly admitted he has no fucking clue what Pico was thinking was a pretty solid indicator that the game was giving the middle finger to the people who were going to spice up the game by not taking it so obnoxiously seriously.
That the problems that are being addressed in the discussion in which Nepenthe hints at shutting the game down and Zulg threatens to strip all threats isn't a miracle, it's a fucking atrocity that it took this long dude. It's no longer about just game balance, the learning curve has just gotten longer and longer and there hasn't been a true attempt to smooth out or reverse that effect since the token efforts of the revamped Academy and allowing players of all levels on the newbie channel, changes that should have happened 3-4 years before each of them actually came out even considering they are volunteers.
The list of dead Imms is pretty long and they are under NDA's not to discuss why, but I bet you that list would have been halved if the game were developed properly to where the game was worth it's best writers' finest creative efforts. That's not happening either. Further, those are people who wanted to pour their hearts and souls out to the game but got shut down by politics and draconian policies where they could potentially have become another J.R.R. Tolkien. That's pretty telling.
Old Yeller can only live for so long. Adapt or die, if your vision involves isolating the players you want to welcome most from having a beer and popping on Skype, it's really time to re-evaluate what kind of game you are designing.
