The fact that the staff has continued to maintain the ridiculous position that resist preps for mental are magic, even when they split mental off from magic years ago, is ridiculous. Mental, like communes, is not magic. Hence having bards in the village. Hence having its own stat. Etc. etc. etc. Resist mental preps should not be magic.

Now, that doesn't matter nearly so much. Fire giants are now boss with only a cold vuln balanced by a fire resist together with all the benefits of gianthood. And reducing the holy/unholy vuln for clouds makes them significantly better in melee at least, though still being vuln to disease ensures they aren't op.

Reading the thread on officials with recent posts by you and Zulgh leaves me a bit confused about how the resists now truly work, it seems you aren't actually covering them if you get enough points to equal the vuln, you in fact need more because of this "subtracting the vuln" component he just mentioned. So it takes quite a bit more to get up to normal let alone in fact resisting, if you start with a vuln.
