Axe spec vs Mace spec. How do you decide which is better?

Have a warrior idea but can't find information on which is stronger overall. I like pincer but I think the other axe spec skills need more work. Bondshatter is just nasty and lasts half a day.

Are both spec based on strength of your character?

How do you get a more nasty boneshatter?

Whirl is always -5 str and dex at hero?

Which parries better?

Is cranial more reliable than pincer at higher ranks?
