It's mostly a matter of perspective

The main difference I see is that evils are doing 'it' for themselves, while goodies do 'it' for something beyond them. And that's where perspective comes in, because both might be doing the same thing, while each perceives/justifies it differently. Onlookers might also perceive both differently.

Also, even the most evil person imaginable likely doesn't see himself as such, rather he does what he feels he must (even if he enjoys it a little too much ...).

Question of what is considered evil. Are there differences from an imperials idea of evil and a scion(orderly/chaotic) idea of evil?

Yes

I imagine it like this:

Dano July 04, 2013 04:07AM

Things with a red aura are evil, and only do evil.

You're describing WoW-era alignment

Splntrd July 04, 2013 09:31AM

There's still tonnes of room for roleplay. What I refer to is straight up how alignment plays out mechanically.

sevriis July 04, 2013 11:52AM

I, uh... what? Really? Are you sure you're replying to the right post? nt

Splntrd July 04, 2013 08:14PM

I can't decide if the problem is what I wrote or your ability to read it..

sevriis July 05, 2013 12:17AM

You're the sour grapes here.

Splntrd July 05, 2013 08:00AM

You're assessment was mostly right, but with some glaring faults. There is argument to be had and always will be when it comes to alignment. (n/t)

Matrik July 04, 2013 01:57PM

I probably should have put it "I'm not arguing with you here" instead of "There is no argument here". (n/t)

Boring take on evil

daurwyn(VIP) July 04, 2013 08:00AM

"Boring take" aka Game Mechanics Perspective.

sevriis July 04, 2013 08:58AM

My point is that evils can choose to do good things.

daurwyn(VIP) July 04, 2013 10:12AM

Plotting mass murder against humans exactly like, say a Maran? (n/t)

Elystan July 05, 2013 12:04AM

don't bother, this is the crowd that thinks D&D alignments apply to real life. (n/t)

sevriis July 05, 2013 12:17AM

hardly

daurwyn(VIP) July 05, 2013 10:05AM

Incorrect.

Forsooth July 04, 2013 05:32AM

Exactly like, say, Maran?

Elystan July 04, 2013 05:54AM

I don't see where I ruled that out. (n/t)
