I think that Wrathpuppet is right. You must have as much protections as you can going in. Deathblow is the most senseless power in the game. It is so overpowered that in order to have a chance at beating a berserker villager you have to go ABS and anything else you can get your hands on. This power is not balanced out by anything else in the game that I am aware of. I am assuming you were at or near full hit points going in and got two rounded through haste, stone skin, and the natural damage reduction from the giant wasp. I have never appreciated a skill where all a player has to do is stand there to kill you. In this particular instance, I am aware that Varnon drummed, but the round where he did not drum was a 450 hp damage round. He did not have to drum to win. Kudos to you for actually even trying to kill him. I would not go at Varnon without a gank squad and eve then you're going to lose a bunch of your party. Please don't whine about the current necro situation. You saw the damage output. You summon and his bloodlust goes off. Your summon lag would also end you. The Masters cabal with the power that turns magic items into extra HP (and the Scions as well) are now defunct. The Master's cabal with the Scourge of the violet spider, when that was not getting spellbaned was also pretty ridiculous, is defunct. I have never appreciated deathblow, even when I played berserker villagers. hell, the only time I can even put together a positive Pkill ratio was when you could just stand on Eastern Road with toughness and bloodlust on and let the game just run autoattacks with deathblows in them.
