Don't forget, death's really aren't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Exp loss is easy to overcome, and the knowledge you're garnering will help you in the future. You'll know where you can explore without worry, and where you can go but need to be very careful. There are several of these places too, where only a few mobs will come after you but you might be able to outrun them while still looking at things.
