Re: Since when is using intelligent tactics to defeat your enemies an evil act?

August 30, 2011 07:01PM
Someone has a skewed perception much...

Why don't we just gather all the evil people in the world and lock them in a room and torture them until they tell us about the rest of the bad people? And than dunk them in acid!

Its because the world holds good people up to higher standards. Good people don't stoop to the lowly tactics of evil. Even if knocking them out and stealing all of their stuff, than calling in your three buddies to help smack the ever loving crap out of an evil guy is the logical and tactically sound choice... It still makes you an asshat in the eyes of every other good person.

Could never get that RP angle.

Sivart 522 August 30, 2011 11:07AM

Well the goal is to destroy them, not change them

Quas 467 August 31, 2011 04:39AM

Not Baer Pally's....

Easily my least favorite part of the Paladin code. (n/t)

randomthinker 349 August 31, 2011 10:54AM

He's a Paladin.

Honestly, compare that to Balgrimnr tattoo.

Since when is using intelligent tactics to defeat your enemies an evil act?

Re: Since when is using intelligent tactics to defeat your enemies an evil act?

Sivart 504 August 30, 2011 07:01PM

your argument is just silly

vortexmagus 554 August 31, 2011 01:18AM

"everyone" is not correct. Most. Not everyone.

Matrik 303 August 31, 2011 06:22AM

I'll try to explain why I think it is underhanded versus other things

Matrik 444 August 31, 2011 07:28AM

I understand your point...

The Faithful of Nazmorghul 454 August 31, 2011 11:58AM

Very good post.

Matrik 412 August 31, 2011 12:23PM

Cheers. n/t

The Faithful of Nazmorghul 280 August 31, 2011 06:04PM

Except hes not hiding in a house. Since you can plainly spot him there, it would be like hiding in an all glass greenhouse from someone :P Cf can only get so real before it gets stupid. (n/t)

Gaplemo 353 August 31, 2011 12:48PM

Agreed.

Matrik 314 August 31, 2011 12:54PM

I am all for people restricting their own roleplay however they want.

Gaplemo 362 August 31, 2011 01:02PM

Don't bother with the water skins, the sperm bank will reject you. (n/t)

Wanderlust- 381 August 31, 2011 02:06PM

Re: I'll try to explain why I think it is underhanded versus other things

Java 448 August 31, 2011 07:37AM

Exactly why I wanted to throw this out there. I think it's where the disconnect is.

Matrik 456 August 31, 2011 07:48AM

So when you play CF, do you ignore the "tell" command?

Java 403 August 31, 2011 07:51AM

I'm sorry you are incapable of understanding subjective matters and view points.

Matrik 331 August 31, 2011 08:02AM

I did actually, did you?

Java 343 August 31, 2011 08:24AM

Thanks for not continuing the pointless insults.

Matrik 475 August 31, 2011 08:48AM

Seriously? How many times are you going to go back and forth on that?

Java 291 August 31, 2011 08:52AM

It's not a simple yes or no question, because it's situational

Matrik 457 August 31, 2011 09:15AM

So are you changing your story yet again?

Java 341 August 31, 2011 09:20AM

I'm not changing my story. I'm trying to expound upon a hypothetical situation in order to relate an idea to you.

Matrik 454 August 31, 2011 09:28AM

Ok, since you had a problem with this specific situation in this log.

Java 451 August 31, 2011 09:33AM

The key word doesn't matter. I emphasized it to point out this dicussion's reliance on semantics.

Matrik 407 August 31, 2011 09:46AM

Re: Since when is using intelligent tactics to defeat your enemies an evil act?

Isildur(VIP) 489 August 30, 2011 07:56PM

No, it doesn't. Stop being real world, in cf that's exactly what you do and it's good. (n/t)

alansmithee 310 August 30, 2011 07:06PM

YES! And while we are at it!

Sivart 409 August 30, 2011 07:16PM

Who said "good" in CF has to be honorable?

qurdind 394 August 30, 2011 08:50PM

That's retarded.

Java 345 August 30, 2011 08:34PM

For me personally it's about "due quarter"

Matrik 359 August 30, 2011 10:22PM

That's fine.

Java 290 August 31, 2011 05:40AM

Never said it was intentionally evil or non-good. That has nothing to do with it.

Matrik 399 August 31, 2011 06:27AM

Which tenet of the Paladin Code, specifically? nt

Java 410 August 31, 2011 06:28AM

Mostly 10, partly 7. (n/t)

Matrik 383 August 31, 2011 07:49AM

That is a HUGE stretch.

Java 406 August 31, 2011 08:28AM

Indeed, the "fair" part and the "valor" part.

Matrik 454 August 31, 2011 09:01AM

You already admitted that summoning into a room is NOT subterfuge because they know you're there and capable of it.

Java 323 August 31, 2011 09:05AM

I admitted that "mechanically" it is not subterfuge, thanks to the where command.

Matrik 339 August 31, 2011 09:17AM

You're just wrong. End of topic. (n/t)

alansmithee 298 August 30, 2011 07:26PM

:3

Sivart 371 August 30, 2011 07:31PM

That's because you're a moron. Have a nice day. (n/t)

alansmithee 410 August 30, 2011 07:34PM

:P

Sivart 397 August 30, 2011 07:36PM

I wouldn't call it evil, but is sub-par paladin RP imo.

Matrik 377 August 30, 2011 11:40AM

So is calling upon your God's power to smite an evil being

jmc 335 August 30, 2011 11:50AM

I don't see how invoking the power of one's god is underhanded

Matrik 428 August 30, 2011 12:11PM

Sneaky

jmc 377 August 30, 2011 12:17PM

You're entitlted to your opinion and I mine.

Matrik 472 August 30, 2011 12:25PM

I don't play paladins

jmc 354 August 30, 2011 12:30PM

Fair enough, yet I don't see a flaw.

Matrik 330 August 30, 2011 12:34PM

It depends somewhat on where the flow of battle is too.

Matrik 393 August 30, 2011 12:36PM

Unrealistic in CF

jmc 430 August 30, 2011 05:43PM

Definitely.

Matrik 322 August 30, 2011 05:55PM

Baerinika specifically told me honor doesnt matter, only killing. (n/t)

Artificial 410 August 30, 2011 11:49AM

How would it be dishonorable in the first place? This is perfect paladin work. (n/t)

alansmithee 432 August 30, 2011 11:53AM

In Dragonlance, Knights of Solamnia would salute their opponents before combat, to not do so was "dishonorable." Same applies here.

Artificial 519 August 30, 2011 12:27PM

It's not really dishonorable, just doesn't fit into my ideal of a paladin. (n/t)

Matrik 303 August 30, 2011 12:06PM

I think it's exemplary behavior. You want a paladin to fail. That's stupid. (n/t)

alansmithee 409 August 30, 2011 11:46AM

Not at all. I'd like paladins to fight like a paladin.

Matrik 483 August 30, 2011 12:09PM

This just in! Elf paladins must run around perma-faerie fired to prevent unscrupulous 'stealth sneaking'. n/t

Forsooth 368 September 01, 2011 11:00AM

Funny, but I'll assume this isn't an actual argument. (n/t)

Matrik 299 September 01, 2011 11:03AM

I don't know that I'd call it underhanded.

Rhuean 412 August 30, 2011 11:20AM

Although, I do like this angle. Summon: Welcome, prepare to meet thy doom. Ready? (n/t)

Matrik 362 August 30, 2011 11:41AM

More like...(text)

lightmage 430 August 30, 2011 12:17PM

Probably

Matrik 388 August 30, 2011 12:23PM

Good on you. But I don't know who these people you fight that just sit there and take that wrath spam. :P (n/t)

Jib 364 August 30, 2011 06:54AM

IIRC
