1. Now this part is unrelated to me, it is only heresay. One example that comes to mind is when I heard he had found 3 people learning (one was a ranger, another was a village applicant, the last is the source of the story). Allegedly, Phelzhis started verbally ripping into the applicant because he was learning with a ranger who was using magic. Also alleged was that the ranger (as any non-idiotic ranger will do) never used magic during their entire course of learning up until this point. At this point the applicant decided to just delete. Now, this just seems like a power-tripping, a-hole move to do if the ranger really did never use magic, and I could see why all three would decide Phelzhis is POS.
2. From my own experience, he was curt, never said thanks, pretty much only asked you stuff when he needed something. That sort of just makes you an asshole. Now you might say that's not a real reason to hate someone (Disclaimer: that's a petty reason to hate someone, and I didn't hate him. Just found him annoying and unlikeable.)
3. Last thing has to do with his convenient positions of level-sitting. Level-sitting at a power spike is going to tick people off. Level-sitting at a power spike as an assassin with his style of RP from point 2 is REALLY going to tick people off. The length at which he stayed at that area, avoiding hero ranks was excruciatingly long. Once again, not that that's wrong esp. if it's your first time playing a class. But on the flip side, very understandable why people would hate him for that and you can't blame them either. You'll notice that when he hit hero rank PK-ing (not sure what level he ended up deleting at or his strength the last couple weeks since I stopped playing), his PK ability seemed...underwhelming to say the least.
Personally, when you combine #2 and #3, it's a recipe for people to start hating him.
