I'd guess it's a trainer teaching it to do something that we percieve as art. (Albeit if thats legit its still pretty fucking sweet).

Humans developed the ability for creative art because we had way to much time on our hands. And opposable thumbs. Wild animals usually focus their creative energies on surviing- getting food and reproducing.

I don't think an elephant in the wild would draw something in the dirt with their trunk of their own volition to try and convey a message to their buddy elephant. It's just doesn't leverage their skillset. But they have BASH.
