Don't get me wrong man, I know what you're trying to say. But the way you wrote it, you contradict yourself in every other sentence.
You do care about making a good impression based on what you wear if it benefits you significantly in some way. But, you wouldn't waste your time trying to befriend people who can't tolerate your clothing/drinking preferences.

Whether or not you believe it, you're guilty of all the same things you've faulted Java for. You're only human. That said, if Java gave me shit for ordering something he doesn't consider manly I would tell him to kiss my ass, because I really don't think it fucking matters what people who would judge me based on what I drink think. I'm still not going to dance into walmart naked because I didn't feel like getting dressed. That's because I do care what other people think, just not as much as some other people do. It all depends on the circumstances.
