His name is spelled Kerry. You not knowing this makes me discount your argument, to be honest.

And think you're pretty young.

But, for shits and giggles, the answer is that Kerry wasn't running on a platform that included cutting taxes for the wealthiest and cutting benefits for the poorest. Thus, I thought his actions would reduce the wealth gap that benefits him, rather than enlarge and enforce it when he already has plenty.

And while Romney has paid more than me or you in an absolute sense, he "kept" roughly 85% of his $20 million while we only "kept" roughly 65% of our $50k. The one with the most expendable budget is the one getting the best deal, which is what I was lamenting.

And if a $200-250 million net worth isn't hoarding money, what is?

consumption tax bro. no more income taxes. nt

The Forsaken(VIP) January 26, 2012 05:17AM

Consumption tax is such a horrible idea

Rade January 26, 2012 07:09PM

You are assuming they break the law. They'd still pay taxes if they bought it outside the US and transferred it in.

Death_Claw January 31, 2012 01:47PM

Alot of assumptions there..

P.S. Kerry was a total douche. Just didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea. :P (n/t)

bell January 26, 2012 11:50AM

Why deflect? They are talking about Mitt Romney. Not John Carry. (n/t)

Matrik January 26, 2012 05:17AM

What he paid in taxes would take you several lifetimes to even earn. Capital gains is capital gains. n/t

Death_Claw January 25, 2012 11:24PM

is this math, do two negatives cancel make a positive?

The Forsaken(VIP) January 25, 2012 03:59PM

Re: So the other day

Rade January 25, 2012 02:28PM

Why should capital gains work differently if you make more money?

Death_Claw January 25, 2012 11:26PM

It should be tiered like regular income

Rade January 26, 2012 07:06PM

It already is, it is a percentage of the proceeds. It's not regressive at all.

Death_Claw January 31, 2012 01:52PM

God damn Bell, that's a good post. (n/t)

Matrik January 25, 2012 02:06PM

You should be forced to beg on the street before programs like WIC exist.

Death_Claw January 25, 2012 11:28PM

Know what pays better than begging as a last resort? Crime...

bell January 26, 2012 10:00AM

Except you're just pulling that out of your ass.

You ever read Freakonomics? Awesome book, btw. NT

Sam January 26, 2012 03:39PM

Never did, but I remember hearing people talk about it.

bell January 27, 2012 06:50AM

One of the main points of the book is how inner city "gangsters" selling drugs structure their organization much like a Fortune 500 CEO. Kinda fascinating.

Sam January 27, 2012 11:44AM

You're answers in these political discussions are fantastic. (n/t)

Matrik January 26, 2012 10:03AM

How would you feel about someone like me (and I really want your feedback as I've struggled with this).

It's not the phone, it's the *premium* phone and more specifically monthly bill with data plan

Spending > Saving.

istirith January 25, 2012 01:30AM

You understand that spending is good for an economy. (n/t)

Kez January 25, 2012 03:59AM

It's great for creditors. Not so great for everyone else. n/t

Death_Claw January 25, 2012 11:29PM

Just making the observation that..

istirith January 25, 2012 08:00PM

It is important to both spend and save in a stable economy.

vortexmagus January 25, 2012 10:39AM

Meh. It's not as simple as you make it out to be. Part of the reason we are currently in a relative economic shitter right now is banks just aren't lending money to people, they are sitting on it.

Sam January 25, 2012 02:46PM

Spending -can be- good for an economy, as part of a larger plan. nt

Splntrd January 25, 2012 04:26AM

That's because people have no shame in taking a hand out.

Rogue January 24, 2012 07:45PM

Despite what I, or others might say. I can imagine that is pretty frustrating in the moment, at the very least. (n/t)

Matrik January 24, 2012 07:42PM

I don't even own a cellphone.

RobDarken January 24, 2012 07:32PM
