While exploring you'll probably be spending more time in your util form, so going util major is nice to reduce your in-form mana costs. Util majors also have Resilience of the Hyena which can reduce the impact of maledicts.
On the other hand, air majors get deftness of the falcon which boosts dodge and evade, which helps you tank better and reduce rest time as a result of damage.

It is super dodgy. It can evade all kinds of attacks. It can chase fast with flyto;peck (which can blind with the edge). It can flyto indoors.
Once you have them blinded you can follow up with your more damaging util form. If you don't like the util form you're assigned you can spin the wheel on it and get something else.

I have a love/hate relationship with Hell, because of how much cheating and powergaming it seems to encourage.
Elves were popular because they had beefy wrath, so they could spam that to supplement their lower offense.
Dwarf/storm don't hit as hard with wrath, and have less mana to do so.
With the current state of wrath, dwarf/storm might be a better pick since you'll need more durability to compensate for your lower offensive power.
I have only discussed the relative defensive capabilities of the two classes. Avengers were chosen because they are arguably the most offensive of Paladins.
