No idea if this is why, but always associated it with egyptian mythology...from wikipedia:
In ancient Egyptian religion, the sun god Ra is seen to roll across the sky each day, transforming bodies and souls. Beetles of the Scarabaeidae family (dung beetle) roll dung into a ball as food and as a brood chamber in which to lay eggs that are later transformed into larvae. For these reasons the sca
The site index on qhcf.net, with links to stuff like the wrap chop, that typically pops up along the left side of the screen only shows:

I've been playing mostly thieves/mages for ages and have not had a serious attempt at a warrior for quite some time. I could use some help on how to gear up for PK as I seem to suck pre-hero. I vaguely recall advice on not worrying about dam roll...is it best to stack hit and -AC?
Bonus: Any particular armors that are basically must-haves for those early PKs? The stuff you can gather you
I've not played a warrior in a long time and have never done well with one. I've been starting to think up a possible build, and I'm curious about suggestions around the Balance legacy.
Is it useful as a dagger spec? Having never played one, I'm not aware whether things like hamstring or hurl can normally be done with an off-hand dagger.
What builds does Balance really s
(legendary) = only 1 exists
(in)famous))= something like 3-4 exist
noteworthy = limited but more like 8 in existence?
Seems the latter two can fluctuate based on player numbers (hence things poofing in chromatic flames when you die).
Time won.
I'll post some detailed reflections and good byes up on the officials when I get a chance.
I accomplished a great deal with this character-- many firsts, many surprises. The immortals were awesome. The players were awesome. So much fun. Thanks.
There's some slight lag for both when hiding while bonded, but it's pretty awesome to run around with a hidden/sneaking lion or whatever.
Pretty sure the mage always gets a +hp bonus (~couple hundred hp at hero?), thinking the melee class gets a +mana bonus.
Also, shifters can gt talk to their bondmate while in form. In addition to haste/slow/stoneskin, shifter bondmate will als
The helpfile is vague. I understand they can see everything (hidden/camo/duo) within the same room...
Can they see "someone"/location within the same area with the where command? If so, is it clear whether that "someone" is within PK range or not?
Do they see you when they scan?
I recently read this book and really enjoyed it. It's got that cyber punk style in the spirit of the old-school.
Anybody else read it? Good stuff....we just need to get CF woven into the plotline when they make the movie and numbers will go through the roof.
Check it out if you haven't read already.
Phase I: Explore.
Learn the big picture layout. Learn where people rank at different levels. Learn the shortcuts and pitfalls in/out of various areas. Wander around looking at everything in detail--this is easiest if you approach each area like a short story and read through it. Take note of puzzles/preps as you go, and identify all the gear you can get your hands on. Ask questions about wher
Been a while but pretty sure level 46 and above can see improved invis. So if you roll an elf/drow the xp penalty makes it harder to be the super sneaky ambush build...in the end, it's probably better just go halfie or human with lower xp penalty, get a ragged cloak and have the broader PK range that won't see you coming. Also worth noting, improved invis also prevents a fair number of
Which means a wave of new heros soon too.
Plus Hell re-opening and over the last couple weeks: quite of a bit of action from IMMs in terms of NPC interactions, IMM exp, frequent bonuses, random egg hunt, and some longer-term stuff like the Scion torch presumably about to pop any time. Yout kinda getting the vibe like the IMMs are scheming and having a bit of fun up there, which is a good sign.
In addition to the other suggestions already made, consider these two:
Thief: You can see hidden, pick most locks (take advanced lock pick), sneak by a lot of aggro mobs with gentle walk, see what things are carrying and steal them to check them out, etc. I'd suggest a high dex race. The rest of the build depends on your style but if new I'd highly recommend not poisoner/trapper and
It can be helpful to let it all out as well as healthy to disengage a bit. Mourn as the time dictates. Get it out of your system as best you can. But then drag yourself up by your bootstraps and begin to focus on becoming strong and healthy again. It is a slow process. It takes faith (though not necessarily the religious kind)-- in your self and what you can be when you overcome the essence of tr
(As posted on Twitter):
"In the darkness of an old church, two figures stand around an open shaft in the floor.
The Ebony Scepter turns slowly in the black of the well, a cloud of shadow oozing forth.
The tides shift.
A sudden tremmor rocks the ground.
The heavens churn..."
Seems something interesting went down (or is going down)...?
Depends on your style and preferences, like most things. Thieves are quite fun and very customizable. Thug berserker would be the most direct power fighter and you'd get some kills and die a lot. Alternatively, something with acrobatics will save your ass plenty, but you give up a lot of offensive options for that survivability.
I've wondered how well something like a duergar binder
I've made an appearance at each night of 100s. The first was by far the most fun (and by no coincidence the most active and actually hit 100), and I don't think it's just because it was the first and the magic wore off. It was almost entirely because they came out with all kinds of fun quests, a little bit for everyone (scavenger hunts, imm-controlled mobs running around, and even
1) Not sure.
2) Pretty sure yes. The next skill in the path that makes you more proficient in scrolls is quite worthwhile if you at all want to depend on them (which you will). And the edge that prevents wasting scrolls is pretty useful for thieves too. There are some really useful scrolls around (aura, stoneskin, defean, haste, etc.), and it can be hard to get them so you have to make them co
Here's my take, having played a couple thieves (Djetmai- binder/poisoner, and Treyliu- Thug):
Plan on developing a good role so you can get enough imm exp to get the devious versatility edge oncem that will add 10 thief points to your budget. More than once is probably not realistic.
If you don't want to pick one path and go all the way with it, your second option is more appealin
Having played a couple hero thieves back to back (last being Treyliu) I found gentlewalk to have unlimited uses, not the least of which is exploring. But also for gathering gold and other very useful preps, various other items in chests behind rather tough creatures. Yes, there are definitely some mobs that see through it, one way or another, and you'll learn a few of them the hard way. But
Well, after about 13 years since I last played CF I had some time on my hands during the long, cold winter and found that this is the only kind of computer/video game that really interests me. I was never that great back in the day (ie. got my ass kicked constantly--kinda like now), but still had gotten borderline obsessed with CF for a year or two in high school...left for college and haven'
