With Lithenarlia (I switched faith). You chose the masochistic route. CF is masochistic even when things are going well, it's a living nightmare when you make it yourself difficult.
So, count to ten and next time just roll an orderly character with the same role you had in mind.
Who are underprepared or obvious newbies, and usually more than once in the same session, while leaving the obvious veterans and stronger builds alone.
The Orc has a choice not to come, newbies getting harassed until they quit don't.
And that just seems unfair, if true, cause those that are will just get better while you stay worse.

Being that is just not important for me. I get pleasure from the game in different ways. When I don't act stupid* I'm pretty good at surviving though.
* Having the right defensive preps but forgetting to use them, is my number one cause of death.

It's not like we can decide to not defend. That's just how the pendulum swings, sometimes we're on top, sometimes you are. The Empire also needs only one hero Healer (and in lesser extent a Bard) to make non-hero range retrieving a whole lot more painfull.
I personally hardly ever take anything under defense circumstances, as I'm sure people can attest. I even took nothing
