9 levels higher no matter what class is a bit much when you are the underdog. (non elite players). Sleeping someone is an instant kill way too often (non elite players). Caballed characters with cabal powers at lower/mid rank levels give decent advantages (non elite players... of course the non elite would not even have those powers because only they get them by performance.)
The greatest reason for having multiple characters is not being able to get a group. Everyone is evil (most of the time) or everyone is good (sometimes in the US mornings (Baer is on then?). A few also because they do not want to get killed by overwhelming odds.
I enjoy a medium pace game. I do not enjoy spending a few hours a day for weeks sitting at the same level waiting for permission to proceed. Roleplay is going to happen as I gain levels and learn and kill when I see folks. If I get snooped and get caught out of character, then bust me. I HATE the empowerment and cabal system. There is not enough people around to spend that much time waiting
One of you crazy smart mathmaticians want to figure out the possibilies with a variation of 4 to 10 characters with no more than 2 consonants consecutive consonants?

I have had that problem way too much. I only play characters now that can solo if necessary. Of course, as some of the threads below mention, you need to know a few spots that are off the beaten path to do that.
