Posted by Hyperstrike 07/06/09 08:35 PM Okay, here's my luddite take on this after reading the article, seeing his "leaving CoH" blog post, and doing a bit of search-fu through what's left of his posts in the board. He "perfected" a way to abuse one of the mechanics of the game while ignoring several others (such as the reward mechanic). When confronted byby vortexmagus - OT Board

Posted by iltat on 07/06/09 at 5:09PM I'm actually a CoH player who PvPed both with and against Twixt (I am not any of the players named, and my verbal interactions with Twixt were quite limited). I'd like to clear up a few things that seem to be missing. Note that I am, in no way, discounting the seriousness of death threats, but maybe a little more understanding of what really tookby vortexmagus - OT Board
Posted by StarkFist on 07/06/09 at 3:27PM I am a COH player and veteran of other online games. I'm not a huge fan of PVP, but even though I rarely go into the PVP zones, I had heard of Twixt through the grapevine. However, contrary to this article, Twixt was never the most reviled person in the game or even on his server, just a minor annoyance to the small PVP community with delusions ofby vortexmagus - OT Board

City of heroes is a vastly different game. The thing Twixt's player is using is the rough equivalent of goto player;slay player; c teleport To be honest, if Twixt was using a different set of skills or abilities to fight, there would have been no problem at all, because the large groups of players who set out to hunt him down would have punk'd him with ease and walked away after emotby vortexmagus - OT Board
Typically I consider campaigns to harass or smear people because of actions on the internet to be inherently cruel and ignorant, and that people have a right to do whatever they want on the web. However, I'd be perfectly fine with people tracking down this guy in real life and harassing the shit out of him. When you had all the advantages. If some of my forties had your eq, your powers, and your forms my balls would have been a lot bigger too. Kharnial was a skilled and cool opponent who regularly took on painful odds, don't get me wrong. mages with about 400 health at that level are easily two-rounded through aura, stoneskin, and shield, where ragers with resist are not easily two-rounded by your servitors at all, unless you got a morosa does two chain lightnings in a row or some such ridiculousness. You might win a fight if you sit at a healer and spam heal heal while the rager misses a bash or a pincer or something. Betteby vortexmagus - Main Board

Excuse me for whining here, but I've gathered and led about three different groups in the past 2-3 days into horrible, horrible situations, two of which were entirely my fault and the third of which I was completely unable to control, and gotten several of my groupmates (as well as myself) into exp holes. So I kind of feel like a total asshole, and was on the verge of deleting earlier. Evenby vortexmagus - Main Board

By eventually we mean that the imms have been so vague about the repop rate that nobody's ever sure if this extremely limited item is going to repop soon or if its at its limit, and no more will be coming, so that goodies, instead of wasting the damn NPC and coming back to check the repop, have to check every so often if they want access to the limited item, and are never really sure if someby vortexmagus - Main Board

for xbox. Awesome series, great games. Its like half-RPG half RTS, so I don't know if thats your cup of tea, but they're excellent little-known games.
