I'd endorse starting with it if you're new to linux. It installs fairly easily and has decent support via documentation and forums. The sudo command still makes me laugh, but it arguably has it's benefits- if you use Ubuntu you'll understand this comic: <A href=http://xkcd.com/149/>;. That always makes me laugh. I muck with this sort of thing all day at work. All I can do is offer general advice here without knowing more. You want to eliminate the fans as your problem first. 1) You've probably already done this part: Make sure the fans are free of any obstruction, plugged in to the correct place, and spin freely (manually spin them to make sure.. they should go relatively freely). Not by default, it won't... do a search for some free software called <I>sharepod</I>. A used this about a year ago to transfer a bunch of songs from a friend's ipod onto my computer, and then to my ipod. I'm not sure if this thing is still compatible with the latest versions of itunes but there ya go..by Jib - OT Board
