If you mean the Carter administration as current political powers you'd be in the right ball park. <br> <br>And I'd say that my statement only really holds true for the New England area, which while never under any type of secular government, was highly influenced by religious leaders for example the founding of Yale and Harvard, the Salem witch trials, etc.
