<br>There is so much wrong with the assumptions of many of the posts in this thread, that it boggles my mind and overloads my desire to reply to any of it, except this one.

<br>There is a difference between the G.I. Bill, and nearly every single other government entitlement.
<br>
<br>1) In return for years of work and service that benefits the entire country, the government will *HELP* pay (not fully pay) to get you the training and education you need to make a living for YOURSELF!
<br>
<br>This, is teaching a man to fish. And is a proper use of government funds.
<br>
<br>2) In return for getting knocked up and not being married and being unemployed, the government will give you money every month, and food. Oh, and if you get married, you get less money. And if you get a job, you get less money. And if you have more kids, you get more money. Making even an idiot who can add 2+2 realize that it's better financially for the poor to pop out as many babies as possible without getting married or getting a job, just making inner cities worse, and costing the government more and more.

<br>This is giving a man a fish, promising to do so for the rest of his life, and destroying his desire to EVER fish for himself again.

<br>This is the pattern of nearly EVERY socialist goverment welfare program in existance.
