I said nothing about the vulns. Just that you get permafly and (arguably) better melee defense. Are you contending that a human will have better melee defense than an arial? Maybe the vulns outweigh permafly and extra melee defense if you're not a rager; I might agree with that.

I used staff for anti-paladins and thieves. An evil assassin probably has fewer situations where staff looks good. Maybe spear against a paladin.
