That these edges seemed designed and balanced with a low-charge weapon AP in mind. If you take that into consideration, things look a lot more balanced. If this was even the common way to play an AP - someone who doesn't rely on charges, but takes more of a utility/offense role in a cabal/group dynamic - then things do start to make sense.
I think the combination of high power, amazing versitility and choice - just don't mix well with a class that already has an 'opportunity' to grasp at something Ravon, Victoria or Cabdru-esque. I'm not sure what the solution to that is - but if unholy blessing suddenly lost the ability to hold more than 50 charges in any one weapon, I could see how these edges would encourage more long-living, tactical APs rather than the 'charge 'em up, steamroller' style.
