" I haven't enjoyed a single book my entire life until Harry Potter came out."
That's the saddest/lamest thing ever. I'm not sure which. If you liked harry potter, read wheel of time, or LOTR, or death gate. (Was death gate any good or did I just like it cause I was young?) Other people could give you lots more fantasy titles that would be kinda like harry potter, except less childish and profit motivated. If you like childish and profit motivated (no value judgments, really) check out some of the old goosebumps books, or maybe john grisham. If you're into deep stuff, I personally love Herman Hesse (start with Siddhartha) or Vonnegut, or Milan Kundera. I could go on, but the gf demands immediate attention. (what else is new?) The short point I got to rambling about is that books can be cool. Cooler than Potter.
