Council of the Elements
The circle of elements was called. Only the strongest elemental Lords
was to come. Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Ooze, Lightning, and Ice. All
come together at the call of the One. He who was all, and yet none.
Standing at the locus point, an uncomfortable silence held in the room.
Never had such a council been called.
With a soundless clap of thunder, felt more than heard, the One entered.
Talled than all assembled. His eyes the burnt orange of a raging fire,
his hair the dark ruddy brown of freshly tilled soil. His skin the pale
whitish blue of the afternoon sky. The nails at the end of his fingers
the deep blue of the ocean. Frosty plumes of air escape his lips with
every breath. Crackles of electricity can be seen crossing his eyes as
he gazes around the room. His hair greased back close to his scalp, yet
long enough to be tied into a long braid. Confidence exudes to into
the air around him.
"Why call us here. Comfort is not possible with all of us here. To long
and the world will start to feel our absence." Gurgled Water.
"Yessss" replied Ooze. "Why call use away? There is much to watch over"
Looking across the assembled powers, the One replied "I call you becuase
the need is great. The Balance of the elements, which we seek to maintain,
is failing. The Darkness rises in the lands of Thera. It is starting to
consume all, the flames burning lower, the waters, being tainted, the
Earth.... Failing it is. A champion is needed."
"Long has it been since we have called a champion." Rumbled Earth.
"Long indeed." Said the One "But the need is there. He must be strong.
We must all breath our essence unto him. A small piece of each of us.
What say you all."

"I will give of myself." Said Fire
"And I." Gurgled water.
"Aye, this is as it must needs be. I will give" rumbled Earth.
"Air will guide him as well. I will give part of myself to him."
breathed Air.
"He will have a part of me. The Ooze will flow again." gurgled Ooze.
"And Ice shall come to his call. He will have a part of me as well."
said Ice.
"Tired...." crackled Lightning "Too tired. I can provide none of myself
for if I do, I will not be able to provide what is needed to Thera itself.
Many are there that call upon me. The Darkness is calling too many storms."
"The need is great, and time is short. We have not the luxery of waiting
for the storms to abate. We will move forward with what we have." Boomed
the One.
"And I shall give unto him of my essence, which is to be able to gain control
over that which you breath into him. That he may do what needs to be done
and return the elements to their place, and over come the darkness. One
thing remains to be done." Said the One nodding to someone outside the circle.
Just then a large Jaguar walked into the circle carrying in its mouth a small
bundle. Placing it in the middle of the circle, the jaguar leaned down and
placed it's lips on the forhead of a small half-bread babe. A pure white
light shown about the child.
"Thank you spear maiden for granting unto us one of yours to aid in the
battle to come." Said the One "Now, it is time."
One by one, each of the Lords stepped forth and breathed some of their
essance over the small child. All save lightning, who looked on with
what could only be described as sadness as it's inablility to participate
in the ritual. When all was done, the One steped in.
"Now, we must send him into the realms. He must find his way, we will
guide him when we can, but we give him unto you Spear Maiden, teach him
your ways, and guide him to those like him. Let him stand for us and
the Light." With that, the One placed the babe before the jaguar who
took him up again and stalked off into the mists.

He looked up just in time to see the jaguar stepping out of the mysterious
mist that had fallen over the city. Making his way back to the Cathedral
in time for prayers, the young monk, a devout of the Spearmaiden looked
at the Jaguard and the small bundle hanging from it's mouth. He knew
immediately that this was something important. The Jaguar stalked closer
to the young monk, circling him and sniffing the air around him. Seeming
satisfied, the Jaguar walked forward and placed the small bundle at the
monks feet. Just then a small whimper came from the bundle. The Jaguar
nudge the monk, and looked again at the bundle.
"Aye, I can take him in. We can raise him. What would you have of us?
Who is this babe?"
Pictures of the events began to flash in the young monks head. Sites
of the Jaguar giving her blessings, the Elemental Lords breathing their
essences onto the young child, the One giving lastly of himself. He knew
then, at least what he could comprehend in his mortal mind.
"Aye, I understand, we can set him on his path Lady. We will not fail you
in this."
