I've brought a couple of people in since then, but yeah most of them want me to show them the ropes for longer/more often than I figure would be acceptable to the
powers that be. At least one of the people and I got called out and told to quit hanging around each other so much. Wasn't exactly like a perma thing, but since then...
I suggest the game to people I think would like it, and that's about as far as it goes. Only one played anything into the pk range. That guy is an awesome RP guy
but he types so slow that it comes down to pointless. I give him credit though, he never once pk'd anyone, but got more imms popping in to check him out than
I've ever seen before or since. It was freaky. RP would go up significantly if we had more like him. I can't get him to come back though. Even when I try to push
Herald at him. Hehehe. He's never had a character go past about 30 or so. Everyone else I try to get to play either won't without alot of hand holding, or plays for
a little bit and quits. It can't be the time sink, because some of these same people blow hours a day on myspace or facebook apps. Maybe we need a hand-holding
flag. :) "I know it looks like a perma but really this guy is so new that it's a handicap instead of a help." Hehehe That sort of thing. Unfortunately you have the other side
of that. People want to "win" they are used to the outlook other games have. You don't lose stuff there is no real risk, you respawn infinitely in many cases, etc...
so rolling 8 deep on a guy and jacking everything would not even register to them until it happens TO them, many then wouldn't even catch the fact that they would
HAPPILY roll 8 deep and gank... or even realize they just HAD, but would whine about how unfairly they were treated. SO we get players slowly, which currently is slower
than the loss of old players, OR we load up on players, but risk having to then weed out the bitches. Everybody has a bad day now-and-again so was X a bitch or just had
a bad day. Hehe A recent post of mine would have put me in the bitch category had it not been for many of you knowing me for a while.
Did I derail my train of thought? Sorry getting kids ready for school. :) So let's break it down. I still try to get players, the few that don't glaze over at the phrase "text-game"
just don't seem to want to or won't stick with it. I'm worried about "pushing it" on the perma label, so the once I 'could' get to stay I don't try with. I talk and give advice, and
say hey you need to get this, or that, When someone hits you flee. etc...
