The fact of the matter is if it was working there would be players. There are plenty of MUDs out there that have huge player counts.
You can continue living in your current mindset and spew whatever negativity towards me you like. I personally don't care. I've had a blast with CF and come here from time to time to just read the forums and possibly think of a new character to play. I've had successful characters, a few people on the pillar, a leader, etc. I've even recently had a somewhat successful character in my eyes at least while edges were in place. I'm just voicing my opinion ultimately and you are doing the same.
It really just pains me to see CF in its current state and I think (think being the operative word) if you give people the ability to play CF as they see fit rather than force exploring/roles/etc on them to be competitive, you'll notice a resurgence in players. As it is exponentially more fun within the CF landscape to have a larger playerbase, the opposite holds true as well. As the playerbase dwindles, there's less incentive for people to play and over time you end up with no one left.
Anyways, if you think we're far from the death knell of CF and it's undergoing a resurgence just the way it is then I applaud you and I must be jaded in my view. If on the other hand, you think there could be a way to introduce new and old players to CF without a staunch learning curve and reducing monotony then I think it's worth discussing.
Also as you spewed your vitriol towards me, I'm curious to know your past "successful" characters. Have you really been as successful as you your bravado in these posts seems to claim?
