I had the pleasure of speaking with Brondalorm after this battle.
First, a backgrounder: Scarab powers don't really come into play here, except nightwalkers wearing down the Watcher faster. So a bard, an invoker, and a d-elf warrior walk in. It's safe to assume that all three have bard songs and invoker shields, at the very least.
The no-vuln human bard has dodge, evade, super-anthem (anthem protects bards more than their groupmates) and can parry maces. The invoker likewise can parry maces, but really isn't going to do it as well and is vuln mithril. Warrior is pretty tanky and ripostes, but can't be as protected as the other two (and is also vuln mithril). Two of the three can use area attacks. It's a great raiding combo, no matter how you slice it. It'd finish off Empire guardians in like 10 rounds, but luckily the Watcher is pretty buff. Really, this isn't looking too great for you already but it's worth sticking around because they can't permalag you unless you're not flying and you might get lucky and pick one off.
Great! Let's get started with our post-fight interview, Brondalorm:
Q: Hi Brondalorm. So nice of you to join us.
A: Thank you. It's a pleasure to be here because I love talking about losing.
Q: So, let's talk about this recent raid. Between the three attackers, who was the best bet to attack?
A: Well, I tried to hit the warrior but the bard hit me first, so I decided that I was just going to stand here like a mob and keep fighting the spelled-up, dodgy bard.
Q: OK. So you're fighting the bard and electing not to flee and re-target. What did you do with your maces?
A: I saw I was hitting for hits, and that first drum didn't give me much of a hard-on. So I'm just going to spam cranial because that's what I do to win.
Q: Fantastic. Oh, hey, look. You're getting tripped because you were dispelled in the first round of combat. Are you going to fix that?
A: Quiet, you! I'm busy cranialing, and cranialing wins fights!
Q: Sorry. But you really don't seem to be doing enough damage to the bard to...
A: CRANIAL. CRANIAL. CRANIAL.
Q: Please stop shouting, sir. I know that first drum wasn't really all that impressive, but those can add up. You could also flee and retarget to someone who isn't protected as well. Malchazzar doesn't seem all that protected and a nice drum with mithril maces might go a long way. I mean, let's check out this clip in slow motion: The Watcher calls forth a storm of fire and brimstone!
The Watcher's fire and brimstone wounds Ikoxus.
The Watcher's fire and brimstone EVISCERATES Malchazzar!
The Watcher's fire and brimstone wounds Venara.
Doesn't this tell you something?
A: Quiet, you! I was winning! I'll finally switched to polearm because I knew the bard was going to run! I had him dead to rights!
Q: Great plan. You clearly knew what you're doing.
A: Dwarf warriors always win fair fights.
Q: But you lost this one.
A: Fucking immortals making cheaty things all cheaty! This wasn't my fault!
Q: Moving on, what does the future have in store for Brondalorm?
A: I don't want to show my hand, but I'll give you a hint: It starts with C and ends in RANIAL.
Q: Thank you for your time. You're truly an inspiration to us all.
A: I know. Ah'm out.
