What is your definition of fake news?
Disinformation presented as news. Simple as that.

Is it news you don't like? If not, can you give examples of news that pissed you off recently that you accepted as true?
U.S. striking Syria made me sad panda, but I can hardly doubt that it happened.

Is it news from certain sources? If so, what sources do you accept as trustworthy? Why do you see them as trustworthy?
This is where your general mistake is. Noone can be seen as trustworthy. But you can be seen as untrustworthy, the criterion is simple - have you been caught deliberately lying in the past? (Answer "Yes" to tick the checkbox). The first question one should ask himself when reading the information that hypes him up is "what is the supporting data"? If there's no supporting data - discard the information until the data appears. When it appears - scrutinize it.
Let's see an example. There is a report on U.S. striking the Syria. US/UK/France claims one result, Russia claims another. Let's ask the question "Where is the supporting data"?
U.S. claim supporting data: [
www.defense.gov]
Russian claim supporting data: [
translate.google.com]
The following scrutinizing is up to you.
