What sort of sense would it make to make a plant illegal and not the active ingredient in it. Not much.

Talk about a glaring loophole.

On a tangent what is interesting in legal terms is dimethyltryptamine or DMT.

It's an illegal hallucinogenic drug that can be purified from plant matter. The interesting part is that the brain produces small amounts. Scientists have hypothesised that it might be linked to dreams.

It raises an interesting legal question though. How can you prosecute for a substance that is found and produced inherently in human beings.

Keep in mind, just because you can get a patent doesn't necessarily mean that patent will hold up in court. And yes, it's silly. nt
