Alright then (long-winded, possibly delusional reply coming)...

...my brand of spirituality, my beliefs about bigger issues than things like paying the bills and what I should watch on youtube later focus on these fundemental beliefs:

1) Karma, as in doing good deeds will lead to good things happening to you, is real (though not like My Name is Earl). I've found when I'm more of a "bad" person, I inevitably end up in "bad" situations, whereas when I am more of a "good" person I end up in "better" situations.

A) Quantifier to good/bad:
Examples of Good: Doing things that benefit others but don't benefit me directly; being unselfish; trying to actually listen to people and give them advice; not doing crack/meth/etc or being exceptionally sexually promiscuous.
Examples of Bad: The opposite of all those other things :)

2) I believe in a "God" though not anything that could be gleamed from any major religion. If anything, it would be closer to the idea of "Elder" Gods from Cthulu mythos. In that, if the universe has been claimed to be 16 billion years old, what the fuck was BEFORE the Universe? Basically, I encompass God to be the starting point of existence. I'd imagine this would lead to us "going down the wormhole" as both the scientific and philisophical ideas behind this would render us stoned for 24 days.

3) I strongly HATE religion. Fuck anyone who tries to tell me how to believe in God, or even which God is better, and all that nonsense. Religion has done more to cause suffering in this world than nearly anything other than Money/Rule. People should be able to believe whatever makes them a "better" person in society (sort of like the Covenant blah blah blah), whether that's in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Allah or Jesus.

And finally, on the demons/angels thing:

4) Energy is something we can all understand right? I've seen many studies done where "good" thoughts increase plant yield, friendly animals are healthier, and many other seemingly odd studies done about how we (humans) can affect things without actually "doing" anything. This has led me to believe that all living things inherently have a "life" energy. That energy is just like any other form of energy but for some reason can not be "measured". To whit, and to wrap this up somewhat, as I could talk to you about this much easier than writing about it, this "energy" can affect things after you die. Perhaps (and I'm not exactly sure where the limits of this are "reached" ie I don't believe in ghosts but I believe places can be haunted) then, if this energy is amplified in its' final stage either "positively" or "negatively" then perhaps that energy is able to stay in that place and NOT disperse as the normal energy would. People die, their bodies decay, and I'm not saying this "energy" is sentient, but perhaps just something that interacts with our "energy" when we come into contact with it.

Do you Christians believe in demons?

cenatar November 13, 2012 11:22AM

Yes and No.

tesline November 14, 2012 07:25AM

That's exactly the wrong position to take in any discussion. You present what you think AND you WILL/MUST face criticism for that, it's helps you evaluate yourself.

Batman November 14, 2012 08:22AM

I would normally give my opinion but the problem is I have found there is nothing to be gained. Both sides are too stupid to figure out a correct answer either way. I have honestly lost all hope for humanity. nt

tesline November 14, 2012 09:25AM

I would say the only hope to be lost is when people start not presenting their ideas. That's just silly. There is something to gain. You better knowing how to present yourself, others knowing better what people think.

Batman November 14, 2012 10:48AM

Non-Drivel

chuntog November 14, 2012 12:21PM

Your approval is all I dream of at night in my heathen dreams.

Batman November 14, 2012 02:00PM

That's silly, heathens don't dream.

chuntog November 14, 2012 02:39PM

;__; NT

Batman November 14, 2012 02:48PM

I guess I feel unconfortable because.

tesline November 14, 2012 01:11PM

You hit on something here that I was going to reply about higher up in the thread...

Rade November 14, 2012 08:04PM

I have battled with this for over 8 years.

tesline November 14, 2012 09:06PM

Depends on your definition...

Rade November 15, 2012 05:02AM

" I have a very hard time believing in a God but I watch events around me and run the statistical probablity of such events happening how they do" wat thefuck am i reading

Blackbird November 14, 2012 06:40PM

So you haven't got it all figured out?

chuntog November 14, 2012 02:37PM

I, too, have faith in the computational relationships of our disparate atoms.

Splntrd November 14, 2012 02:22PM

That's a good way to think, but you could always prescribe to a more naturalist determinism. NT

Batman November 14, 2012 01:59PM

I sure do. De mon is de one keeping us down. (n/t)

TaterPig November 14, 2012 07:56AM

None but ourselves can free our minds. Have no fear from atomic energy, cause none of them-a can-a stop-a de time. (n/t)

MiyagiYojimbo November 14, 2012 12:19PM

There is only one sure way to get rid of demons...

Matrik November 14, 2012 05:07AM

Beware vidya game demons.

Batman November 14, 2012 01:11AM

First off, the comment is fantastic.

Sam November 14, 2012 08:43AM

I'm curious as to what you mean by energy.

Batman November 14, 2012 10:53AM

Alright then (long-winded, possibly delusional reply coming)...

Sam November 14, 2012 11:25AM

I believe in negativity and positivity.

vortexmagus November 14, 2012 03:18PM

I was more talking about the Island I saw off the coast of Maine that a single, black schoolhouse/church on it.

Sam November 14, 2012 04:00PM

I heard that if children play death metal while smoking weed they'll grow really tall. (n/t)

RobDarken November 14, 2012 04:07PM

I think this is an actual fact...

Sam November 14, 2012 04:16PM

Some thoughts.

Batman November 14, 2012 02:47PM

Well (a few things)...

Sam November 14, 2012 03:13PM

I can't find a source for the South Korean study at all, despite looking through the university - So I'd say instead use the mythbuster episode.

Batman November 14, 2012 03:45PM

But that's kinda my point.

Sam November 14, 2012 03:58PM

Lego ergo sum, cogito ergo creo.

Batman November 14, 2012 04:05PM

Lego myum eggo (n/t)

MiyagiYojimbo November 14, 2012 06:09PM

Gimme an hour or two to craft something thoughtful ;)

Sam November 14, 2012 04:15PM

I never use pot for it, alas. I always just....Do it. Most high people I've tried to talk to on ANY philosophical basis (and it's normally them asking me)

Batman November 14, 2012 04:37PM

There was once a demon that lived in my butt

Demtok November 13, 2012 02:36PM

Re: Do you Christians believe in demons?

Isildur(VIP) November 13, 2012 02:00PM

If a christian doesn't believe in demons, they cannot believe in angels

Stevers November 13, 2012 12:58PM

Also something I never understood about Christianity.

vortexmagus November 13, 2012 12:45PM

The main issue re: Devil = Evil is that he "betrayed" God even though he was God's most favored angel.

Sam November 14, 2012 08:45AM

Also I don't get why people follow the bible it is a load of stories to guide people not to take literal interpritations and apply it to whatever cause you want. nt

tesline November 14, 2012 09:27AM

Assume the Bible says that "Thou shalt not kill" is a commandment of god. Should I be taking that metaphorically, should I be saying "well that's just a guiding principle" or should I be taking it as holy words.

Batman November 14, 2012 10:55AM

The latter as well.

tesline November 14, 2012 12:52PM

Are you being facetious here?

Quas November 14, 2012 09:45AM

Re: Also something I never understood about Christianity.

Artificial November 13, 2012 12:48PM

I believe everyone has their own demon(s). (n/t)

Christianity and the Belief in Demons

Splntrd November 13, 2012 11:49AM

Eh, sorta

silvian November 13, 2012 11:43AM

People still do rain dances, so I find it hard personally to flat out deny rain dances work. (n/t)

Artificial November 13, 2012 12:07PM

Yeah and I'm sure Hurricane Sandy was just happenstance

silvian November 13, 2012 12:23PM

Which one of you New Yorkers danced that rain dance?

DurNominator(VIP) November 13, 2012 05:42PM

You'd be surprised at what people think about that. Go to google, check the results when you type "hurricane sandy was" and you'll see as top results:

My demon walks beside me. It's a ring-tailed lemur. (n/t)

BattleCharmed November 13, 2012 11:30AM

Mine walks beside me as well, it's a feel.
