It actually made me uncomfortable to read this log.
Underdark, no escape route, claustrophobia (to me) setting in, then you go against a total beast of a PC.
Balls to the wall... when you were under 150 hp, I was getting chest contractions just reading this :)
And then that movie-like ending. Just awesome man.
Are you sure you're not putting the melancholy rose-coloured glasses on? People have been pendulum-swinging since 2001, when I heroed the first character on CF (Carrock). And it's all about keeping your shinies. Think about it -- what hurts the most in PK loss? The loss of good gear. No one cares about 1/3 CON loss, no one cares about bruised ego of losing a fight. But you touch my shin
Everyone knows that daggers don't work well against polearms, it's received wisdom.
Except, of course, this is wrong.
You just tore through two of them. Tauzauk got a slice on you and that's more or less it.
I love the new civil era of CF and the friendliness between players and Imps, but you really, really need to tweak the pole up.
Giggedy.
You have taken axe and mace completely out of your equation. Why is that?
They used to be considered as str-only weapons back in the day.
This is no longer the case.
There has been quite a few successful drow axe specs (small pruning axe is like 5 lbs) and arial mace specs were a PITA for a lot of people.
Pincer/cranial should fix your necro issues.
Uhm, I'm playing one now. It's 24 dex.
McBeth is right - the "max stat split" applies only to warriors, where when you pick dex as your max stat, it goes 1 point to str and 2 to dex.
Half-drow warriors, btw, get 3 point dex increase (24 dex in the end).
Half-elf/Half-drow gets 24 dex and much less vulnerabilities than Arial. Also, no hydrophobia.
Lack of flight is not a big issue. You get to hide and prep, so you're rarely under pressure to get flight immediately.
Hope this helps.

Hey man,
First of all - it's GREAT that you're doing this. Kudos!
Second - while I don't use zMUD, you can still access the old "script" board of this site, you go to this direct link:
I am sure that there are many ZMUD-related posts.
Good luck with your recovery!
I just kept waiting to see choke... it would at least give you a chance to GTFO.
Sadly, the only choke I saw was "Within a forest choked with mist" :(
I also fuck up on my whip spec and forget it often too, though.
Don't tell me you were playing Venorsh? D-elf pole scion? 18 years later and I still remember this :)
The player behind Venorsh made me dumbly stare at the screen and wonder how can a much weaker d-elf be *so much* better than me, with the same spec... fun times :)
To say that she was well done would be an understatement of the decade. Well done, amigo, well done.
Figure out popular combos.
Rank up the chars that are the anti-dote for them.
Maintain the stable of anti-dotes, by logging in periodically.
Wait for popular combo to rise up.
:)
I have to say he's classy.
I don't think he took more than 1-2 items over all of my losses.
What's frustrating is the futility of trying to fight what I consider a broken mechanical class.
I am now leaning towards not giving him any more chances and just fleeing at the first sight... and how is this fun for anyone?
You can open with nerve, which -- believe it or not -- is one of the better assassin openers. If you don't want to go with 'blindness dust' or strangle, this is the one to go with.
Also, every nerve attack stacks and drops dex/str by -2. If you don't want to scare your mark with a massive kansetsuwaza/kotegaeshi, this is the way to lure them in to stay longer. This is why y
Never stopped to think about it.
You do have a very valid point.
Unless we can arpee it away, by maybe saying "Given their solitary status, not belonging to either human or elven society, half-elves have developed wiser attitude towards the world than any of their respective bloodlines".
Wouldn't work for dex that well, but for wis? Sure.
Just fucking suicidal/WOW that you charged group of three, who had a muter with them.
I guess this is why I suck. I wouldn't even try that.
Onions baby, onions.
We skirmished around lvl 40 a bit. I could put a dent and lose.
We moved to hero level. Couldn't touch you.
Well done, good luck with the baby (when they get to 1 yr old, you can mud again :) ) and see you in the fields!
1) Why on earth is your mainhand wield a spear? Spears are terrible on giants, because you very rarely see spin with your low dex.
A polearm would be a much better choice, because you will see 'distance' trigger a lot, given your giant size.
But really dude -- it's flail in mainhand, axe (for shield cleave) or mace (for crippling strike) in the off-hand.
2) Resist cold preps a
