Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in genby Rade - OT Board

Just for looking: www.prosper.com If you decide to join and fund an account, use this link and we'll both get $25. The skinny: Basically it's p2p lending. You bid a minimum of $50 to fund someone's loan (of up to $25k) and other people bid.. if the full amount is bid then the loan is processed and you collect interest. If not, you bid on something else. These are unby Rade - OT Board
Find a broker with a no transaction fee 'value stocks' mutual fund. Because you are starting small you won't be able to diversify enough to protect yourself from a bad pick. You're essentially gambling hoping to win big on the couple of stocks you'll be able to buy. Moody's downgraded FGIC today and that was one of the reasons the market tumbled.. I want to understand why this is so important. Here's what I think is the case based on articles... FGIC insures municipal and/or corporate bonds Bonds are more risky than they originally thought, so they don't have enough cash/capital to 'properly' insure at AAA saby Rade - OT Board

So, apparently there's a small number of people who took out GI Bill student loans and then were unfortunate enough to die in combat. The government is hunting down their families looking for payments on those loans. Ron Paul has cosponsored a bill to stop the Secretary of Veterans Affairs from hassling the families of dead soldiers for some measly student loans.by Rade - OT Board
Does the ethernet plug light up when the wires are connected and the power is turned on at both ends? It usually has a green and amber light on the port. If they are there but don't light up it's probably an issue with the port itself. Alternatively, you may need to set up TCP/IP or something else strange like (shouldn't have to, but whatever). I suggest calling your ISP'sby Rade - OT Board
The 'cable modem' hookup you're talking about is (probably) a cat5 network cable. There's a special kind of cat5 cable called a 'crossover cable'. In this cable two of the wires are twisted rather than straight through so that you can connect two machines together without a router. Odds are good that you either have a crossover cable and need a standard, or have aby Rade - OT Board

As with most customer service... if you get told no... call back a day or two later. When you install Windows, it connects to MSFT when you type in your registration key via the internet. What I THINK it's telling you is that your registration key is already in use. You have to let MSFT know the key is no longer in use where it was previously and they should let you go forwards. Microsoft sells licenses to PC manufacturers cheap and in bulk so you get a copy of Windows that is supposed to be bound to that hardware. They'll usually let you slide if you're nice when you call.by Rade - OT Board
You don't have as much to prove as you mature with age. Also, you're past your physical prime which plays into it a bit. As long as your sex life is healthy such that both parties are satisfied, I don't think I'd worry too much.by Rade - OT Board
I did the same thing a few years back and Windows detects that your hardware has changed (you now have virtual hardware). All I had to do was call MSFT and explain to them that it was no longer installed on the previous machine and that I had a real license (not OEM). They reactivated it and then it allowed me to work through it. Licensing stuff may or may not have changed since then... *shrugby Rade - OT Board
I support a person's right to pass their wealth on to their children, but I also think that has to be balanced against creating a royalty status among the wealthy.by Rade - OT Board
What was your inspiration for Firefly? I'm interested in history and I was reading about the American Civil War. I'm also interested in Westerns, the frontier life of the time and science fiction. I hadn't seen a combination of those things. Science fiction has become perfectly presented and insanely scrubbed. I wanted to see it dirtied up a bit- like in Alien.by Rade - OT Board
QuoteproReganomics was spend spend spend. The only way to do that was to untie the dollar from real assets and start borrowing into insanity from the federal reserve. That's pretty much what I meant by 'however much money we feel like'. As of 2001 the top 1% in this country hold over 1/3 of the net worth and financial assets in this country. I couldn't tell you what a 'reasonable' amount of wealth for the top 1% to hold is and I'm certainly not going to propose any wealth redistribution programs here or anything... but wow.
