If you are using any weapon but hth/dagger, you lose potentially ALL your attacks per round, without any echo either so it's not like feint.
This goes for both you and your foe.
Though in my clinical tests, one or two pieces of metal (like, say, a weapon) didn't have a tangible effect yet. Beyond that, things start to suck fast.

Cast an offensive spell on yourself = loss of spell percentages. Grease, since you mentioned it, isn't fully offensive (kind of like reduce) since it has beneficial properties too which you might occasionally want on yourself so knock yourself out with that one, I always do. Triggers are dumb and incapable of reacting flexibly. The only case when they help somewhat is when you're fighting someone who isn't sneaking and the room has multiple exits, otherwise they are a net negative; especially helpful if you move faster than your victim in the selected terrain.
