Zulg obviously grabbed the damage type table from right where it's defined in the code and just formatted it in a more human-readable style. Black light is, and has always been, negative.
Awesome defense (which is made even more awesome if the mobs are susceptible to your maledictions), good melee damage and can put out some hurt with kicks and owaza, the before-mentioned ability of seeing almost everything, blindness dust, vanish, bind wounds for quicker healing (though not as quick as a bard, granted) and last but not least... martial trance. Very useful for taking out big nasti
Pretty sure batter can lag (but only at high skill%).
There's also a low-average net in the Udgaard mountains, and I have a vague recollection of one being sold by that trader in the Silverwood cavern.
At first I was like "what the fuck is this shit" and gave up after getting nothing done, tried again the next day and finally started getting the hang of it.. and played it more or less for a week straight
Fun fact: equipping your dwarves with obsidian swords and then telling them to go hunt down some mountain goats produces hilarious results, with goat chunks all over the map. Tell
Heck, I'd argue the learning curve isn't that steep.
Sure, the *interface* is frightening at first, but at least I got over it rather quickly; it took me only a day to start feeling comfortable with the game. It's definitely easier to pick up than CF or Nethack. And as long as you don't pick "terrifying" or "sinister" starting sites, you won't spend
That bonus is even better for arial/dark-elf, fwiw, with their higher dex and all, felar just gain a fair increase on offense.
And what if you want to use, say, faceslash or crippling strike? Every other a-p can dual wield an appropriate weapon and go to town. A felar a-p doesn't have that luxury, unless those happen to be their main weapons.
But I don't feel what extra mileage they might get for using a spear makes up for all the other heavy hits they take in other aspects.
And since I never play characters who'd need to rely much on others... I can't really count "vaulting on other peoples' slept victims" as much of a bonus. YMMV :P
I was just silently grumbling a few days back about felar a-ps getting next to no love from, well, anything. Sure they can use dexy a-p moves, but their poor str and int and lack of any useful special properties (unless you consider higher-average hth bonus attacks one) really put them behind arial/dark-elf in my opinion... and even lose out on a lot of edges. I'd like to see what, exactly,
Charisma and random chance have nothing to do with it, but it's very deterministic.
Mobs keep track of the last person who hurt them, enabling them to track and all. So, if the tank was the *last person that round* to hurt the mob, it won't attack anyone; if a tick passes without another round (or an attack being used on it), it'll track the ex-tank, leaving combat unexpectedly.
Dur just grabbed some numbers with poor relevancy and made a graph. Yhorian spent countless hours to prove he's awesome and better than us.
This thread is making my head hurt. :(
