I'm not big on flames but here are responses. Now to stop flames against me, I'm going to say that these are not hard-fast rules so I don't want to here "But X class is still unfair." Rest assured that the Powers that Be have thouroughly examined each and they fit pretty well. Also, I'm an Immortal but not one of the Powers that Be so this is mostly how I understand it but may not be the final answer. > Possible Solutions: I'm skipping this section, since my point is to illustrate that there isn't a problem. This is to balance the advantages and disadvantage of each of the races and classes, as well as illustrate that some races or classes with a broad range of skills/spells/powers may learn more slowly. Specifically you can divide all the classes, skills, and spells into two major realms "Mystical" and "Physical" are the words I'm going to use for a lack of a better term. Mystical is anything that is either magical, divine, or otherwise relies on something other than raw physical prowess and includes things such as healing weather by skill or spell. Physical is combat skills, sneaking, hiding, etc. > - If they are based on benifits and powers of the race and classes. How come the weak have xp pens and the powerfull dont ? They aren't entirely based on weak verses strong. It may be more accurate to say that classes with a broader range of skills and spells have higher xp penalties. So the more a class crosses the line and combines Physical and Mystical skills, the higher the penalty. > - Shamans necro's two of the most powerfull classes and no xp pen. Shamans and necromancers are both very specialized in their specific roles. They are strong in the "mystical" catagory with neither of them having very much in the way of physical. > - why do rangers have a xp pen ? Rangers have some spell like powers, and decent healing. Butcher is more like Creat Food than it is like "Parry." > - Especially one aspect, why the Massive xp pen for a paladin, and not for a shaman ? Paladins have significant abilites on both sides of the fence, definitely the most of any class. Now Races are more oriented to the abilities of the specific race. Humans are the standard and so have none... The rest are adjusted as the Imms see fit as they have powers beyond that of human. Hope this helps.
