I had/have the exact same issue, I rolled a villager and made sure that every single time I died I at least went back to my corpes and logged out. There were times where I'd log out and be fine 15minutes later and I'd have no problems starting up again in the same night. There were those other deaths where I literally had to step away for a day or two at a time, but every time that I logged back in I was happy I hadn't gone through and entered delete;delete. When I finally did delete I had maybe 5-6 con left and it was only because I didn't have the time to play and have yet to roll a char since. To echo my goodbye thread it was my first non-OG conji hero, first villager, first lastname, first over 150 hour char.
