Advantages:
- You can make your own food and find your own water, so you'll never be stuck without a way to sustain yourself (everyone else has to rely on coins or bartering)
- Most of the playerbase and mobs can't see you while you're camouflaged
- Pathfinding means that you can roam the entire world without having to rest to regain your movement
- Your herbs can heal you and sometimes heal the plague
- Creeping through the woods allows you traverse the wilds without coming out of camouflage
- You can hit-and-run most mobs, so you can rank alone if you have to (a big possibility because of the lower numbers of players)
- Lots of people want you to tank, which means that you're a valuable groupmate
- Getting to level 30/32 lets you make a weapon that heals you
- Getting to level 35 givings you another skill that makes it easier to handle mobs/players when you're in the wilderness
- Many neat places to explore are wilderness areas, which gets you familiar with areas outside of cities
- Nobody is inherently your enemy
Disadvantages:
- You're like a warrior without any specs when you're outside of the wilderness, but you still have dodge/parry/shield block to rely for defense and serpent strike for offense
- People will likely want you to lead their groups because pathfinding benefits work on those following whomever is leading
- There are a couple of specific items that will help you survive better - like a gem of seeing to see invisible people - but you'd need to have someone show you where and how to get it
If you take this class, I would suggest that you go human/caverndweller/explorer. Being good-aligned will help you rank faster, allow you to request gear from mobs, and will (usually) have more supportive players, but being neutral will allow you to rank with anyone you meet.
You'll lose several skills designed to seal PK kills, but you'll gain multiple utility/defensive skills (shadowstride, watchful eye, avoidance, scatter, tend wounds) that will allow you to explore the world to your heart's content and people will want to group with you more because you can use camp with your whole group.
