The game became less fun.
The first thing is the smaller player base which affects almost all aspects of the game: harder to find people to pk, harder to level to hero, harder to find people with truly interesting roleplay...
The second thing is a number of time sinks that have been introduced. For example, for many classes there are edges that will seriously affect pk and if you want to get those you need to spent time gathering observation/exploration experience, gathering imm exp, etc, especially since maximizing edge points from pks is no longer really an option given the playerbase.
The last thing is that to play really competitive you need more and more information which you will typically not get without good ooc connections. Rather than becoming more open and more strategy oriented the game becomes ever more knowledge and imm oriented, making it harder and harder for somebody new to be competitive.
Don't get me wrong, there are still moments were this game is great and you will sit in front of your pc typing like crazy while adrenaline is pumping through your veins in amazing quantities, or were you will be shaking your head in disbelief about how amazing someone's roleplay is. It is just that those moments become rarer and rarer.
