Why can't you have a hook like, "A fortune-teller tells you at your birth that a female with a secret will be the key to your fate." Then you're out and about trying to talk to female allies to discover their secret RP, and convince your enemies to open up to you. All the while your character is trying to find some connective meaning in those other characters that he/she can relate to.
Nepenethe had something like this in his role for Istendil. It was something very vague about a female bard, so when Amberlea showed up, he went out of his way to get to know and befriend her.
It's the same hook as "What happened to my sister?" What matters to your character with the sister is someone having information that is really important to you, like vitally important. All you have to do is come up with a role where other players' characters have information that is essential to your character. You don't have to know what it is. But you have to commit to it.
