There's a reason people don't play CF anymore. If they wanted to, they still would.
While counts hurt some people's motivations, really most people stopped for other reasons.
Scar will eventually introduce the enchanter class it looks like.
I'll go with that bringing back maybe 5 players, for a few months.
The underlying issues people have with CF, and their willingness to dedicate their time to playing it, remain unchanged.
Player counts in the 50's will not change that I'm not in same place I was in 2008 when I started playing.
CF's player counts would be best served by a couple of changes I think.
1) EP situation is changed to a flat metric. No more earning or variable between characters, all character get the same EPs at same intervals and can spend however they want.
2) Autodeletion is removed. People that can only play very short amounts have no incentive trying to play a character when it will just autodelete. And the idea of starting at level 1 everytime you want to play CF is a MAJOR deterrent to being willing to play. Gear purging solves any real issue with people holding characters. They could be cabal members, just not leaders.
3) Despite what Matrik says, full looting is moronic and a flawed mechanic that should be eliminated. Encourage risk in PK by lessening the potential negative impacts of dying.
4) Hell gear and silent gear should all be eliminated. Why would I want to play against people who OOC coordinate trips to obtain OP gear?
5) Imms need to up RP enforcement and crack down on the douche players.
6) Fix lag. If the system is not firing, as much as I hate the system and think it is idiotic and lazy from a gameplay perspective, it needs to function properly across the board.
7) Remove PK stats from PBFs. PKers that care about numbers will still track their own, people that care about the act will still engage in it, but players that care about the number at the end too often blur RP for the sake of PK.
8) Give all Bards Harmonius Equilibrium and let dark elves be bards naturally. I promise to play if this happens.
