You'd have to find people who are legitimately communists if you're really looking for a crowd that thinks that "profit is a dirty word."
However, profit without regard to the human cost, the social cost, the environmental cost, or any other so-to-speak "real" cost is
something that should be not be lauded
Remember last month when 300,000 people in West Virginia were left without potable water?
If that incident were the result of a terrorist attack the entire country would still be under red-alert threat level.
But because it was a business all that has happened is that a few lawsuits have been filed and it will soon be forgotten by everyone not directly affected.
I think that's bullshit.
In funnyone's situation, he's working for a major manufacturer of airplanes. I would certainly hope that their number one priority is not profit, but safety.
I have no idea what department funnyone works in, but even with advances in technology would you like have veteran aviation engineers forced out in
favor of recent grads because they'll work at 1/3 or 1/4 the salary? I'm not a Boeing shareholder, but even if I was that's not a business practice that
sits well with me.
We can push for maximizing profits at every turn, but eventually we'll have to pay for it in one way or another.
